Show DEMOCRATS SHOULD DISBAND. A man asked a Democrat 3-esterday if it was true that the Democratic party proposed to disband in Utah. He is a red hot Democrat, and with a very bitter smile replied: "We will see after we are able to employ a fife and drum." ' " "What do you want with a fife and drum!" was the next question, and the answer was: "To see if any relic of the, Democratic party can be called together." In point of fact and in point of honor, we do not see what the Democratic party can do in Utah but disband; that is, of course, if there is anything left to disband. When a power that rules a State will, in violation of the .express mandates of the Constitution of that State, and with? a perfidy and meanness unprecedented stamp upon every obligation, obliga-tion, of party and of the courtesies that are supposed sup-posed to prevail among gentlemen, then in sheer self-respect, it seems to us, the members of that party so insulted and so traitorously betrayed have nothing left to do except, disband. |
