Show COAL LAND DECISION MAY GO AGAINST STATE A decision probably will be given shortly by the United States Xand office of-fice In favor of Gideon Snyder and C. O. Elllngwood and against the State of Utah. The testimony in the case has been concluded and no testimony has been offered by the State. The two men are trying to maintain claims in section 16, township 16 south, range 7 east. This is a school section. 0 Under the law mineral land belongs to the Government, no matter whether it Is school land or not, provided it was known that mineral was in the land at the time It was turned over to the State. In view of the fact that coal has been known to exist In the section since 1885, no testimony was' offered by the State and the possession of the land will probably go to the claimants. |
