Show A REAL COAL FAMINE. We have had some serious threats of a coal famine, fam-ine, but nothing like what the old Northwest has been having. There, coal to the amount of 500. pound lots up to a ton have, been shipped by express a distance of 500 miles. The farmers are burning their fences and rutbuildings to keep from freezing. It is said that there is plenty of coal at Dtiluth. St. Paul and Minneapolis, but the railroads have not cars enough to ship it. The car famine this j-ear is the most significant evidence of the mighty volume of business which the people of the United States supply railroads, that yas ever seen on earth. |
