Ffl!iJi5lT,PALt .Followers of the ponies in this'city and vicinity, and all lovers of what is considered the most legitimate of sports will be pleased to know that extraordinary extraordi-nary efforts will be made next fall to pull off the best races ever seen in the intermountain district. Under the auspices of the Intermountain Intermoun-tain Fair association many of the fastest fast-est horses in the country will be entered for the two-weeks'- races next fall. Large purses will be hung up to attract the king bees, and the appropriation of 1200,000 to be asked for from the Legislature Legis-lature will, in a Urge measure, be devoted de-voted to pulling e J the meet. - In order to more properly handle such a. big, undertaking, horse owners propose to organize themselves into a Gentlemen's Driving club, and will soon make plans and estimates for the big meet to be held May 30. Each member mem-ber of the club wilKput up $100 to form a pool for purses and expenses, and at the end of the season, if there Is a balance, bal-ance, it wilL be divided among members. mem-bers. ' -.- Every horseman approached on the subject is enthusiastic. Even those living liv-ing in outside towns, such as Spanish Fork, Provo, Ogden and Logan are taking tak-ing the matter up with a rush and a hurrah, and there is every, prospect for the most rousing meet ever held in this section of the country. . .-,.. |
