Casa of Jefferson City tor Superintendent of Public Schools. The convention waa noteworthy for Its Bryan aentlment Every mention of the Xebraskan'a nam brought applause and the platform adopted contain tha following follow-ing plank: " "It has been demonstrated to the satisfaction satis-faction of every patriotic Intelligent and fair-minded American tha WUllam J. 1 Bryan waa defeated for the Presidency when he was the candidate of the Democratic Demo-cratic party, by the corrupt use of an enormous slush fund, aggregating millions mil-lions of dollars, contributed by great corporations cor-porations and by those interested in special spe-cial Industries enjoying special privileges under- the law. The charges made by Democratic1 leaders and the Democratic Dress that this was true, which charges "were at the time indignantly denied with a great show of virtue, are now substantially substan-tially proven to be true. ' " "We declare that it is alike due to Mr. Bryan himself and to the Integrity of our Institutions that he should be elected elect-ed to the highest office of- chief magistrate magis-trate of the nation at the election to be held in 1906, of which position he waa deprived by methods calculated to discredit dis-credit and put to shame the entire American Amer-ican electorate, and we pledge to him our support and aid that his nomination and election be attained. We unhesitatingly declare that a fair and honest election, lree from coercion or the corrupt use of money, at which the American people may be given what it is their right to have, an untrammeled opportunity to express ex-press their sovereign will at the ballot box. is an Important issue in American politics today' |
