The Are was first discovered by a call boy em- ? loved by the Union Pacific, who at once urned In a call, which was followed In a few seconds by a second call from another an-other box. The Are department made a quick run to the scene of the flre, but before It arrived the entire roof of the Boyle bulldlpg was . a mass - of flames, which was rapidly spreading to the other buildings. A number bf times the firemen fire-men were compelled to move back on account ac-count of the great heat. For a time it was feared that the warehouse of the Smurthwalte Produce company would be destroyed. Twice the flames leaped to the roof of the building, but In both cases they were extinguished before any great damage was done.
