Show HIGH SCHOOll BUILDING WANTED. ' ' In considering the improvements to be made during the present year we think those in authority ought to keep in mind that a new high school build-ing build-ing seems to be a necessity;. 5 j ; , ; The present building is inadequate and overcrowded. over-crowded. Our idea is that somewhere on the east Bide of Main street there should be' a structure erected for the students -who live on the east side, to relieve the present buildings, and then, in a year or two, when possible, a' new structure should be f rected on.the west side for the students convenient to it. - y : . J--'-.', ,v;; ".; Either that; or a grand high school building ought to be erected as nearly as possible to the center of the population of the city--a structure with a capacity capa-city to accommodate at least 1200 students and so planned that in two or three years additions could be made to it so that it would accommodate 2000 pupils, pu-pils, because the city is going'to grow rapidly in the next five years, and there are children enough now in the public schools who bught to receive a high school education to fully occupy a building with a capacity of 2000 students. -.!,'.. - We believe it would be better to build tw6 high school structures,, one on either ; side, . because it w ould be more convenient to the students, and then there would be a generous' rivalry between the two which would be good. . . " . . . - We commend this to the Board of Education and to. those who havethe handling of the finances of the city. ;' - ' . 'r ; f--- " '; : : |
