Show SHOOTS WIFE; THEN HIMSELF Idaho Man Tries to End Life, Thinking He Had Killed Wife. ST. ANTHONY, Ida.. Feb. 52.-George Guthrie of Chester, ten miles east ot here, shot his "wire and then putting the gun to his breast sent a .bullet through hla breast. It Is thought Mrs. Guthrie will recover,' as the bullet passed through her thigh Just below the hip. Guthrie has a chance to recover. Last week Guthrie was arrested and fined $10 for choking his wife, which Is believed to have been the cause of hi rash act. He claims to have borrowed the gun to kill himself, claiming he did 'not intend to murder his wife. - He followed her out of the house to an outbuilding and tired at her unaware. Thinking he had killed her, he placed tht ' gun to his breast and fired. ' Although badly hurt, Mrs. Guthrie came out of the building in time to see her husband reel and fall to the ground, She walked to the house and summoned help. Sheriff Incore and Dr.. Harshbarger left Immediately for the scene. . Guthrie Is well known here, having been engaged In the restaurant business and has cooked in the various lunch rooms in St. An thony. Ha is a man about 30 years of age and has a ranch at Chester,, where .the shooting took place. |
