There was a full attendance of members mem-bers when the Joint convention assembled after 10 o'clock today. Senator T. O. McCarthy of Pueblo tsked to be excused from voting on the Governorship contest. He refused to give any reason for his request, but the joint assembly excused him by a vote of 6& to 82. Leave to withdraw was granted by a vote of 65 to 32. The report submitted bv Chairman Willi.--m H. Griffith and three other Republican Republi-can members of the contest committee was next taken up. This report found that there was much fraud committed by the Democrats at the election on November No-vember 8 in forty-eight precincts of Denver, Den-ver, but that Adams was legally elected Governor. It Is now conceded that Peabody will be seated as Governor and will surrender the office to Lleut.-Gov. McDonald. |
