Plans for aggressive aggres-sive opposition to the alleged pressure of the saloon interests on the members of the City Council were formulated yesterday in the Interdenominational meeting of ministers called to forward i the movement for a $1000 saloon license. There were 200 ministers present. While the ministers were in session, the City Council at a special meeting made the $1000 license ordinance a spe-clal spe-clal order for debate and pannage at the t meeting of the body to be held next Wednesday. In resolutions and In supporting speeches the ministers, who represented eight denominations, pledged themselves them-selves to appeal personally and organize organ-ize appeals of their congregations to their respective Aldermen to vote for the high license measure. The pressure which the breweries are said to be exerting ex-erting on the Individual Xldermen was painted in vivid colors and the declaration declara-tion made that quick, decisive efforts must be mpn to meet such tactics. |
