Show NEW HEXICO IS COVERED WITH HEAVY SNOWFALL; MUCH SUFFERING ENSUES t ' ' o S0 ALBUQUERQUE," N. M,-Jan. 2. After twelve hours of steady ' snowfall, one of the heaviest snows for many years now covers the whole of New Mexico. The depth of the snow varies from several Inches on the mesas and In the Rio Orande valley to as much as Ave and six feet In the mountains. Conditions are unprecedented. Work at camp No. 2 on the Belen cut-oft, the first camp in the Rugged Abo canyon in the Mansano mountains, has been rtopped and several nun- dred men are temporarily out of work. The snow In the canyon Is four feet deep.'. The zero weather Is causing much suffering among natives and Indians. Sheepmen expect great losses If the snow does not melt, as it la covering up pasturage. |
