Show TEAR DOWN OLD DEPOT Work Will Soon Be Started on New Grand Ccitral , Station. NEW YORK, Aug. 28, At the present pres-ent rale of progress in the work of improvement im-provement It Is expected that three months will see the Grand Central station sta-tion rased and work begun on the magnificent mag-nificent structure which Is to - replace the only, railway terminal at' present existing on Manhattan island. Only the non-completion of the temporary offices for the railroad company prevents the work of tearing down the old structure. Work on the improvements has gone as far as it can go without entering the station or causing an interruption of the train service. Where two years ago stood several hundred homes. In the section beside the tracks between Forty-fourth and Forty-ninth streets, today to-day is an excavation quite extensive In itself, but only a fraction of the great hole that will be made In the nineteen square blocks which the terminal will cover. The plans of the railroad company com-pany call for the expenditure of $25.-1 $25.-1 000,000 on the Improvements. - |
