Show FEDERATION TAKES BLOW AT GOMPERS The Federation of Labor is making plans for the entertainment of the Western Federation of Miners, which meets in national convention here, May 22. A committee of three was named last night to act as a reception and entertainment en-tertainment committee, and 'these men will not only meet the delegates as they arrive,' but will plan for their entertainment en-tertainment afterward. Those who will serve on the committee are J. T.. Lav-ery. Lav-ery. secretary of the federation;. J. N. Spalding, Brotherhood of Carpenters, and A. Mutchler, Cigarmakers' union. A circular Issued by Samuel Gompers of the American. Federation of Labor, urging that the local federation withdraw with-draw all support, both moral and financial, finan-cial, from the striking Western Federation Federa-tion of Miners in Colorado, was read and laid -on the table. The delegates Instructed Secretary Lavery to notify the American Federation that it was not In sympathy with ,the move to withdraw support from the miners, as they believed in the stand they had taken. ta-ken. They also went on record as being be-ing against, the spirit of the circular, as the resolution adopted said that the Utah Federation does not approve of the American Federation of Labor seeking to divide the forces of labor by such methods as have been adopted. |
