Show BLACKMAR IS CALLED Commander-in-Chief of the G. A. R. Passes Away at Boise. (Special to The Telegram.) BOISE, Ida., July 17. The G. A. R. lias lost another commander-in-chief by death. Gen. W. W. Blackmar having passed away In this city at 5 o'clock yesterday yes-terday afternoon of nephritis. Gen. Blackmar's wife was with him during1 his Illness. The body, will be embalmed and i taken to the home of the deceased in Boston. V. .' The General srrlved here Julv lOon a tour, during which he Intended to visit Grand Army posts throughout the Northwest. North-west. He was ill when he arrived and gradually failed. The seriousness of his condition was kept from the public at the request of his wife. Deceased was born July 25. 1841 at Bristol, Pa. He enlisted in the Fifteenth Pennsylvania cavalry, and subsequently Joined the First West Virginia. He eerved with distinction throughout, and at Five Forks was promoted on the field by Gen. Custer to the rank of Captain. 4 . Through three administrations, those of Govs. Long, Talbot-t and Rice, he was Judge Advocate-General of Massachusetts. Massachu-setts.
