Show CUTLER ASKED TO HELP CHANGE DATE Gov. John C. Cutler received a letter this morning from Henry B. F. MacFar-land MacFar-land president of the Commissioners of the District of Columbia, requesting that the executive serve on the national committee com-mittee organized for the purpose of changing inauguration day from March 4 to some time the latter part of April. The letter declares that on account of the weather at that season of the year it Is not good policy to hold the ceremony on the day It is now held. In 1902 the late Senator Hoar presented a resolution In Congress changing the day to the last Thursday in April. Owing to a disagreement in the committee to which the resolution was referred it never came before the Congressional body. |
