Collins In the extradition case now pending, the Ban Francisco lawyer may not be returned to the Golden Gate. ' Frank Hlgglns. the attorney representing the Esn Francisco .authorities, haa requested that at least twocompetent witnesses to prove perjury be sent but other than sending De-tectlvs De-tectlvs Gibson with extradition papers and depositions the. Ban Francisco authorities have not acceded to his request. If witnesses are not forthcoming the police say their chances of securing the return of Collins will be prejudiced. Collins Is still at large daring the day In company with a special officer and remains much of his time la the law library arranging his case In resdtneas for the resumption of the trial on Wednesday. He haa threatened 'an action for criminal libel against tha Victoria Colonist for having reprinted an extract from an article In. the Pen Francisco Chronicle which alleged he waa married to Charlotte Newman. |
