Knab- enshue. who sailed through the air a tance of three miles, landed on top of a ten-story office bulldhijt In twenty-flve minutes from the time of starting, and then returned to the depot from which he started. Th day was Ideal for the darlnpr feat. A light wind was blowing, from the east and Knabenshue sailed his aerial craft directly in the face of the wind. Ho days ago he declared he would sail down rfnd alight on the top of a ten-story building. build-ing. When he lcftXhe starting place he directed the ship straight for the city. When half the distance had been covered n upper current of air carried him up to a height of 3000 feet. But the nervy director did not lose control of his machine, ma-chine, and steered it directly for the heart of the city. Business was entirely suspended sus-pended and the entire population gathered In the streets to watch the couree of the ship. -When directly over the skyscraper Knahenshue directed his craft downward down-ward and alighted on the building with ease and grace of a bird. A round of applause greeted the daring navigator, who was less excited than any of the spectators. After examining the ship and receiving the congratulations of his friends, Knabenshue started on hla trip back, and going with the wind he made the return trip in fifteen minutes, lie declares that his present ship Is far superior to others he has navigated, that it is easier manned and that he has solved the, problem of aerial navigation. |
