Show PARDON BOARD TAKES ! TIME TO CONSIDER After listening to. the arguments for the pardon of "Nick" Haworth, Saturday, Sat-urday, the State Board of Pardons postponed action In the case for sixty days. Haworth is now serving a life sentence for the murder of ' Thomas Sandol at Layton, Davis county, in 1898. In behalf of the prisoner Attorneys Attor-neys A. J. Weber and James M. Hamilton Ham-ilton spoke and" against the granting of a pardonJthe board heard from District Dis-trict Attorney Halvereon and. Sheriff Abbott of Davis county. Action in other applications was taken tak-en as follows: Elmer Woodward, criminal, arsault, denied: Charles A. Larten, criminal assault, denied; John Dariingan, forgery, denied; Lawrence Johnson, forgery, denied; Gus Smith, attempt of highway robbery, continued indefinitely; Wade Nichols, murder in second degree, denied; D. H. Carr, petit larceny, stricken from roll; Merrill M. Ka-lghn, continued for elxty days. |
