Show FASI PENNSYLVANIA FLYER ON ITS EIGHJEEN-BOUR TRIP 10 NEW YORK FROM CHICAGO IS WRECKED AGAIN HARRISBUBQ, Pa., July 16.-Trala No, 28, on tho Pennsylvania railroad, known a the Penriylyahla : flyer, the new lghten-h6u train from Chicago and New Tork, mefwKh an accident today a mile west of Port, Royal which fortunately fortu-nately did ot reeult seriously. A westbound freight train near Port Royal tried to stop, suddenly and the en-glneer en-glneer made a too violent application of I the air, the consequence of -which was that ' a car buckled and was thrown over to track No. 1, on which the - flyer was speeding east. An atetmpt was made to flag the train; but the break occurred almost al-most simultaneously with the arrival of the flyer, and the train plunged Into the wreck. The momentum threw the wrecked car from the track, but the flyer did not jump the raits. Engineer Calvin Miller of this city, when " ' " i he ' saw the obstruction on- the track, jumped from the engine and was hurt about the head and back. He waa the only one Injured on the train. Fireman Garman brought the train to a stop. The passengers, all of -whom were in their berths, did not know there had been an accident until after the train had been stopped for some time.' They were not even shaken up and none of them was i Injured. A wreek crew from Mifflin cleared the track and Fireman Garman brought the ' train to Harrisburg. i . Beyond the damage to the engine, which was slight, and the amashing of the platform of the combination baggage and smoker the train was not damaged. it arrived here at 8:28 and left at 8:33, two hours and forty minutes late. |
