Show MINING NOTES. ' A great many of the members of the stock exchange are taking advantage of the closing of the local mining exchange today and tomorrow and are spending the time In the diggings of the various mining districts. Saturday's ore and bullion settlements settle-ments were $72.00. divided as follows: Bullion, $35,500; gold, silver, lead and copper ores. $37,100. For the week the settlements aggregated $397,600. as com. pared to $457,500 for the previous week. Frank H. Buhl of Sharon, Pa., came in from the East yesterday, accompanied accompa-nied by George A. Balrd. who has been selected as the representative of the Peter 1 Klmberiy estate, and these gentlemen will spend several days looking look-ing into the mines of this State. Henry Fares, the well-known mining broker of Park City, came In from camp yesterday to spend the Fourth in this city. 1 George Jefferson and John Williams, two young miners from the southern part of the State, came in from Mil-ford, Mil-ford, and will spend the Fourth ln the city- S. G. Newton arrived from Goldfield, Saturday, and will have plans drawn while ln the city for some extensive Improvement that is to be done in his town a little later on In the season. A. F. Shoneker came in from Rhyo-llte, Rhyo-llte, Nev., this morning and will hold a conference with some of the local mining men who are Interested with him ln that southern part of Nevada. F. H. Engelke, who has been foreman fore-man of the Majestic mine, came ln from Newhouse this morning accompanied accom-panied by his wife, and it is understood under-stood that Mr. Engelke may not return to mines of that section. H. E. Freudenthal and Jake Johnson reached the city this morning from the mines near Pioche, and seem to be en-Joying en-Joying the change of temperature between be-tween this point and the Nevada country. Ed Hoffman ran up from Mammoth on the noon train, and of that region he reports more activity in the mines than at any other period for several years. John Geiger spent the Sabbath at Park City and while he found it some cooler out In the mountains, he says that he is glad to be back attending to business at the offices of the Pioneer sampler. |
