Show BOARD MAY BUY A FARM . The Board "of" County Commissioners has decided that the experimental farm authorized by the last Legislature shall come to Salt Lake county. Acting under an opinion given -by County Attorney Parley P. Chrlstensen, the board has decided de-cided to set aside enough means to purchase pur-chase a tract of land, should the experimental experi-mental farm commission decide to place the station' In Salt Lake county. . A committee composed of Commissioner John W. Mackay. W. C. Burgon and Frank T. Taylor has been appointed to look up various tracts of ' land in the county that are available and convenient for the station. In the opinion of Attorney Chrlstensen. he says: "Now, if some one will come along and give Salt Lake county sixty acres of land with the water and ask them to be good enough to give It to the State, the Intent and import of this bill will have been complied with, but if this public benefactor does not appear, and Salt Lake connty aids In the accomplishment accomplish-ment of the. purpose provided in this chapter, then it must convey from the property It already owns sixty acres of land and the water thereto, to the Bute of. Utah, or in the event that It has no such land, it must purchase sixty or more acres of land with sufficient water right ' therefor and convey the same to the State of Utah for the purposes of an experimental station, which conveyance shall be free, without charge from the State. I believe, tinder the law, you have the power and authority to make an appropriation ap-propriation for the purpose of purchasing an experimental farm In Salt Lake county coun-ty to be conveyed to the State of Utah without cost to the State." . |
