his bowl They were fastened upon his mother who sat sewing on something red by the window The red something was Teddy Bears Bear's first pair of trousers and after atter breakfast he was to try them themon on so no wonder food did not seem to be of the least importance just then to Teddy Bear When he lie bad had eaten all his porridge Teddy ran to his mothers mother's chair I Iam Iam Iam am all through my breakfast he said Try them on please do Teddy put in one leg and then theother theother the theother other as his mother held the new trousers for him and then buttoned them to the blue and white suspenders suspend suspend- ers she put over his shoulders Teddy strutted about and called for his father to come and see him all dressed up in his new red trousers Mr Bear looked at his son with pride while Mrs Bear Dear sat rocking in her chair with her paws folded and looked at her husband as if to ask Did you ever see a finer liner young cub You will soon be big enough togo togo to be felt too Teddy turned one way and then another forgetting all about the big boots that were hard to manage and then something some some- thing happened He slipped and down the rock be he slid Ono One boot fell of and splash it went into the water ater and sailed out into the middle of the tho stream Teddy Bear tried to save san but the rock was too smooth and theother tho the I Iother other boot about and the next thing he lie knew he too went splash into the water About this time old Mr Bear awoke and looked for his boots Then he listened and heard beard Teddy cry for help Down to the river ran Mr Bear in fn his stocking feet feet and and Just in time too for Teddy Bear Dear was in ina ina ina a deep place Mr Bear pulled him out by the top of the head and then he waded in after his bis boot which was sailing about like a boat What do you mean by taking my boots and making me run about in my stocking feet Ill I'll teach you better better bet bet- ter manners Mr Bear put his bis boots to dry by the kitchen stove and his wife took off Teddy's red trousers and hung them behind the stove and sent her herson herson herson son to bed When can I wear trousers again 1 asked Teddy I
