| Show = Z = f FATALLY INJURED I Death of Alma Curtis Eaves Parowan Other Items l 1 Tarowan Iron Cp Utah February 2 189S To the Editor A very largely attendedfuneral service ser-vice was held here yesterday over the remains of Alva Curtis Eaves the Tabernacle being filled The deceased was a Young man who came to this country In company with another man as prospectors from California about three years and a half ago He located In rarowan and worked around with one and another for about two years when he became convinced of the truth of the Gospel taught by the Latter day Saints and was baptized into the Church about a year and a half ago Since then his course has been very commendable and he was growing in the respect an dconfldence of this community com-munity dally lie was a leading member mem-ber of the Sunday school Theological class was 22 years of ago and single Lately he followed the business of well digging and was quite n expert at the work On the loot well he dug he had got down agout eighty feet Last Wednesday morning as was big wont when going down to dig in the well held he-ld down the rope from the top to the bottom On this occasion the rope part way down from the top was somewhat covered with snow and Ice and he went down tn or fifteen fet only when his hands cramped and gave out He threw his arms and knees around the rope and in this way went with lightning speed to the bottom of the well He was brought up and complained com-plained only of one leg hurting but he died January 2th at 10 om Ho was a Deacon and was one of the most willing and obliging among them All the members of the theological class attended the funeral nnd seventy Young men on foot two abreast followed the remains t the cemetery and many others In carriages and wagons followed follow-ed the young men The speakers at the funeral were Bishop Charles Adams Elder James Ollorton Jesse W Crosby of the Croby president Pangnltch Stake Elder Samuel Wells of St George and Kldir Alfred M Durham of Parowan Their remarks were most appropriate full of hope and consolation consola-tion and speklng In high terms of the deceased Brother Eave father and mother ore both dead he has one sister In Califoria and another sister somewhere some-where In the Eastern states The weather here has been very cold the pat two or three weeks one night In the early part of January the thermometer ther-mometer went down tl 1 below zero Last Sabbath day we had the pleasure pleas-ure of having five Mutual Improvement missionaries preach to us They are under un-der the direction of Elder Orrln Snow i r fn l of PlnevalleyWashington county They are engaged in a noble work and are no weaklings I nb tn are bright and Intelligent In-telligent 1 Young men working throughout through-out the county among the youth with a zeal and energy that la most commendable commend-able The general health of the ople of Parowon with the exception a few colds is I excellent WAL at c present Mcancaon |
