Oren Wilson secretary of the state association reports the thc tourney as being on a par with those in the thep p past t financial financially and certainly the crowd of oC th the final afternoon and evening evening eve eve- ning was large enough Things Thing which attracted much comment com ment Tient were the surprising number of Bingham fans present and the loud loud- v voiced ovation which was wa accorded their team and the way Granite Jordan and Bingham rooters cooperated cooperated cooper cooper- in supporting the three quintets from the Jordan district a a. a very commendable loyalty That Jordan band too directed by Emory Epperson in a very capable manner supplied excellent music all four days and had some ver very clever stunts The Granite and Leh Lehl bands added their musical strains to the affair on the last two nights There were more auburn players than wu usual l. l and a surprising number of oC southpaws Including Chad Jordan captain who is ambidextrous Of the boys bos on the 16 squads in the t tourney 89 arc seniors 49 juniors three are sophomores and one is a freshman the second year men were Harold Harold Har Har- old Alexander of Uintah Paul of oC Bingham and Van Jones of Central Central Cen Cen- all of oC whom saw action as u did Kay Childs of oC Central the lone Hurricane and Central had but bu three seniors each Logan Bingham Bing ham and I Lehi hi but four while Jordan and North Summit had seven and Gunnison n Nephi SaUna Salina Provo Granite and Beaver listed six seniors Diamond Prospects Prospect Bright Baseball pro prospects look bright with Bingham Jordan and Davis avs o of last t seasons season's league playing again and Tooele Granite C Cyprus and a Salt Lake school as possible new now members members-in In the diamond organization Bingham won the title I last t year Track and field activities are arc taking tak I ing the spotlight with much discussion about the early date o othe of oC I the annual City Creek run run which is slated for April 7 almost too early for Cor the runners to get into proper prope shape for the grind an invitational invitation al at relay meet consisting of several short relay races may be substituted Spring football in the high schools also presents a problem for in some circles the question is raised as to whether It Interferes with other prep athletic endeavors Tooele and Bingham have already held spring practice and other nearby schools are expecting to start training train In ing sessions soon coon the question being open for lor discussion in the mean mean- time |
