What Our Readers Think in Editors Editor's note Contributors to What Readers Think must sign their true names and end addresses although these will not be published if the writer re re- re quests Short letters will be given preference Water More Needed for Gardens Th Than n Lawns Editor Telegram Some of us newcomers in Tooele have bought property with no irrigation irrigation irrigation tion rights and believing that we could use city water we have put in Victory gardens Now after the gardens ar are plowed and seed has been bought the city comes out with a notice that there may be no city water for Victory gardens during the hottest hottest hot hot- test part of the summer It seems to me this is contrary to Uncle Sams Sam's plans He says plant gardens so we will have plenty vegetables and enough food for our boys In the camps and elsewhere Tooele had a whole year to see the rapid growth of population population tion and plan accordingly Water runs down Main street so that cars cant can't park close to the curb Nothing is said by the city about watering lawns and flowers flowers but but we cant can't eat them I like to see beautiful lawns and flowers but they dont don't keep you from being hungry Why not change the tactics for one sum um- summer gum gum- ummer mer and say water your Victory gardens and let the lawns and flowers go If we are going to go contrary contrary contrary con con- to Uncle Sam he pulling one way and we the other Im I'm afraid for what is going to hap hap- happen pen I have two boys in the service and Im I'm certainly going to go ahead with my Victory garden and a big one so I can I be certain there will be that much more for my boys to e eat t wherever they may be So long longas as the lawns and flowers are watered my garden will be watered too Mrs M.
