WHEN I TRY TO SWIM rhe birds they chirp and tw itter, rhe girls smurk and snicker. And I am all in a dither. When I try to swim. When 1 get in the water. N'o deeper than my hip, How I shrink and shudder. Like one that's in a fit. 1 don't seem to do it right. And my suit it is so tight. And 1 think 1 am a sight, When I try to swim. But each day I persevere, Just to overcome my fear Soon I hope to learn to dive, If I succeed and survive When I a professional be. Then they will say to me. Will you teach me now, and how, For you are such a wow. Now you've learned to swim. But I may not see that day, For I will be too old and gray. No longer young and gay, When I have learned to swim.
