Pointing Up the New Look in a Utah to Band BandIt an anIt It was doubly appropriate for the University of Utah to make the Wyo Wyo- Utah ming-Utah game last Saturday afternoon into a Band day with some thousand members of 14 Utah high school bands as special guests It was anI an ideal arrangement arrangement arrangement ar ar- ar- ar first because it presented the crowd with a colorful spectacle as these youngsters marched in their bright uniforms uniforms uniforms uni uni- forms and paraded around the stadium and on the field It was a sight worth orth seeing But what m made de the event even cv even n more mOIe appropriate was was' the fact f ct that for the first time the univ university has a a band of its own which really is tops The fast- fast stepping efficiently maneuvering piece Redskin band showed off superbly at the game Often in previous years cars the university band has had to accept a rate second position relative to some of the high school bands which have appeared appeared appeared ap ap- ap- ap in the stadium But not this time With all due respect to the excellent excellent excellent excel excel- lent performances of the visiting high school musical aggregations the Redskin Redskin Redskin Red Red- Red Red- skin band was far and away the best bestas best best- as it should be Every Utahn who has seen the new new univ university band perform is proud of it W We congratulate the band members and leaders and university officials on the organization They have done much to stimulate enthusiasm and support for forthe forthe forthe the university in more ways than simply building attendance and cheers at football football foot foot- ball games
