Show 2 BOYS STEAL RARE COINS PAWN LOOT FOR GOODIES SAN RAFAEL Cal CaI April 13 INS Two INS Two boys who ran away from their homes in San Francisco were disclosed Wednesday to have stolen worth of rare coins and converted the loot into 35 35 worth of hot dogs candy and popcorn The sheriffs sheriff's office of suburban Marin Mann county found the youths aged 12 and 16 sleeping in the basement of a housing project at Marin Mann City With them were three guns a suit case ease and 29 coins they had failed to spend The 29 coins had not been spent for the simple reason that no one would accept cent 2 cent 3 and cent 20 pieces none of which is coined any longer The coins were part of a collection belonging to 13 year-old year Ted Caine of San Francisco and the other loot was also stolen from the Louis H H. Caine home the sheriffs sheriff's office said Ted apparently has lost forever a 1799 silver dollar worth 12 a gold dollar valued at 12 and a number of old quarters and half dollars Total value of the loot taken from the Caine home was placed at with about half of it recovered |
