Show GRANITE ART SERIES Hatfield Farell-Hatfield Present Recital I Enjoying music that was WaIl pleasant pleasant pleasant pleas pleas- ant and In nature were members of the Granite Arts who attended the concert presented by Marita Farell and Lansing Hatfield Thursday evening eve eve- ning Through the auspices of the Metropolitan Opera the two presented a program that pleas pleas- ing to listen to somehow lacked the punch and vigor some listeners were anticipating Their opening numbers both duets by Mozart were a bit cold coldin coldin coldin in their presentation While the two made a striking appearance sometimes the audience felt they weren't giving their all Hatfield's first numbers were well known Included in this group were Pilgrims Song His comic number Long Ago o in Alcala was cleverly pre pre- Most commendable was his enunciation His second group of numbers clearly showed this His Hs Hisrich Hisrich rich low tones were also outstanding out out- standing His encores The Lords Lord's Prayer and Old Man River gave the audience the treat they were looking for Miss Farell was at her best when she presented her group of Czechoslovakian folk songs In these selections she really got into the mood of things Her gay interpretation interpretation interpretation inter inter- of or the quaintness of or those lyrics was most refreshing Also her encores in this group a lullaby and Smiling Through were sung with a genuine feeling of tone that we wc had been looking for Final duets were those well- well known favorites Wanting You and You Are Love Accompanist F Fro Frank r a n k Asper I played the tricky back music with accuracy In spite of the lack of truly Sr gr t singing the two a n. good loo lOOking Ong couple gave us a program of tn- tn singing n |
