Show Telephone Users Meetinc Tho meeting of nil telcphono useriT, called to listen to tho report of the committee appointed at the provlous meeting, was held in the City Hall on Monday evening, with n goodly num-bor num-bor of telephone users present. Mr. S. L. Chlpman, on behalf of tho committee, reported the proceedings of tho joint commlttco meeting held in Lehl on tho preceding Friday evening, even-ing, (n report of which will bo found In tho Lchl Department of thin Issue). After somo discussion, tho roport of tho commlttco which cnrrled with It tho rccommondntlon that when present pre-sent contracts expire they would not bo renowed, was unanimously adopt, ed. Mr. Chlpman In his remarks said that every effort had been mndo nt tho Joint meeting to mako tho company com-pany seo matters from tho users' standpoint, especially In tho matter of tho freo scrvlco between tho settlements; settle-ments; that the suggestion had been made that if tho company could allow tho freo servlco to bo continued, the people would by n Httlo offort double the number of phones used In the district, to which tho manager replied that "the moro phones, tho loss pro. fit," for tho company. Mr. Chlpmnn added, "This being tho caso, tho people, peo-ple, need feol no compunction In having hav-ing tho phones removed, they are really doing tho company a kindness." A number of short talks woro made, relative to tho company's decision, and along the lino of tho work accomplished ac-complished In various towns in Utah nnd Colorado in tho mattor of Independent Inde-pendent phone Bysioins.
