Show POPPY DAY SALES WELL SUPPORTED Sale of poppies as part of the annual observance of Poppy day in Bingham Canyon on May 25 proved public response to a fine cause to be very good. Returns were heavier than for many years and average over a dime per poppy. Everyone gave freely. Proceeds Pro-ceeds will be used entirely for World war veterans, both in and outside the Veterans hospital, and their families. No figures on sales of poppies by Veterans of Foreign Wars were available, but it was understood that a good showing was made by that organization. According to Mrs. J. Dewey Knudsen, president of the American Amer-ican Legion auxiliary to Bingham Bing-ham post No. 30, members of that organization assisted by sons and daughters of Legionnaires, sold 2000 poppies, over their quota quo-ta of 1500. Mrs. Elliott W. Evans and Mrs. John E. Dahlstrom, cochairmen of the auxiliary drive, were assisted as-sisted by 16 auxiliary members. Volunteer help outside the Legion Le-gion included Janice Hansen, Margaret McKellar, Colleen Ro-bison Ro-bison and Norma Swain. Poppies were sold in Highland Boy, upper U. S. Mine, Copper-field, Copper-field, Lark, Copperton and Bing-ham. |
