J Dwyer in an able article in the Denver Catholic Register replies to the author of The Mormons Move Over inan in inan inan an issue of Colliers Collier's some weeks ago which hardly did justice to conditions as they are now in Utah as brought about by the Influx of war workers in the past year The writer shows that he knows very little or nothing about our state he probably made a few trips around the arms plant talked to a few war workers who sized him up and kidded him along He probably got a little dope from a bartender bartender bartender bar bar- tender and then as the article shows he proceeded to rush off oft offa a poorly prepared flippantly insUlting insulting in in- suiting and decidedly embarrassing embarrass ing article article article-an an a art article r t i c l I e that surely is unworthy of a great magazine like Colliers Collier's weekly In fact we cannot see how it got by the editor for its proper place would be in the ashcan and I am not a Mormon either We are proud of ot our state We welcome the workers who come here to work If they are real people we ask them to our homes If they are nothing nothing nothing noth noth- ing but trash we naturally hold aloof the old adage quality quality quality ity seeks its kind kind and and birds of ofa ofa ofa a feather flock together The newcomers are welcome to our places of amusement Our churches open their doors to them gladly But they must first prove that they are worthy of our hospitality And we are not moving over for anybody We will absorb the i J Jn f n newcomers to a certain they they are more liable to f their ways than we are sun OUr In fact we are all too busy tc even give it a a. a thought Th Yh hI waves may beat against tt ti rocky cliffs but all the they do dot 1 break to pieces An And the cliff still stand and are not moving over for anybody It takes years and years year tc tt know a people You have Ie tc mingle with them work wt wits them deal with them In and hamlets on the desert and ace andIn andin in the mountains go hunting with them exchange views troy fron every angle angle and and then you car can sit down and tell the world tha that Utah is the finest state In the to union regardless of irresponsible sible sable visitors of the type that thaI write th these se articles for maga mag who are not too lar lam in what they publish The fewer articles we see of 01 m this type the better it will b to be for all concerned and this magazine maga magi magazine zine zinc owes our people an apology for its almost reckless dire gard gara of the real state of attain affair An Observer Who Knows Kno S
