Another Cry of Wolf Wolf j SENATOR SENATOR HIRAM JOHNSON of California 17 grand grand old dissenter of the senate has come out out with the prediction that the United States will be in a shooting war within a couple of months Maybe so so maybe so But we cant can't help but recall that various and sundry of our isolationists isolationists iso iso- have been predicting for these many i months that we were headed straight for war and would be in it up to our necks next week or next month We all remember how a year ago go it was stated flatly that if President Roosevelt were reelected we would be in the war before the end of 1940 Then it was early in 1941 then in the spring or the summer As yet all these many cries of Wolf wolf have proved false Of course theres there's always the possibility that sometime they might be betrue betrue true but at least least- leaston on the basis of past experience experience experience ence the American people arent aren't any longer going to get all excited when they hear the cry and take down the old shotgun to go out in search of the wolf which the alarmists say is on the verge of shattering the country's i. i L. peace A lot of us Senator Johnson still haven't forgotten how your great fellow dissenter of the senate William E.
