L proposed by Mayor Jenkins The rejection of Mr was inI in I no way personal but was merely a result o of the decision of the the- commission majority to leave the water board at five members instead t of adding a new citizen member and a second commission representative I Its It's difficult to say what would have been the best course for the city commission to folI follow fol- fol v I low In this matter but it is possibly just aswell as well that the water board be left as it now stands The controversy seems to have quieted down and there are indications the man five-man board will be able to work in harmony f for r the be bet t interests of the city and with no serious threat of the injection of politics into its af al- al fairs t I If that is the case then the decision of the commission will prove to have been a sound one But if Jf it isn't and harmony does not S. S l prevail then certainly it is the duty of the commission to take positive action which will keep the metropolitan water board the independent independent independent inde inde- pendent farsighted nonpolitical efficient body it must be Maybe it is just as well for the commission commission commission commis commis- sion to follow a wait see policy Let the board be as it is and hope that everything from now on runs smoothly If it doesn't the commission then can and should increase the personnel or take any other action required t to restore harmony 1 |
