Show DEFENSE STAMPS PRIZES GIVEN SCHOOL PUPILS Young Americans showing comprehension com-prehension of the obligations and benefits of citizenship in United States last, week received special honors for essays written on "Characteristics of a Good American", Amer-ican", from the American Legion auxiliary, sponsor of Americanism American-ism contests in Bingham district grade schools. Defense stamp prizes were a-warded a-warded by Mrs. Ross Hocking, contest chairman, or Mrs. J. Dewey Dew-ey Knudsen, auxiliary president, at schools on days as noted: Bingham Bing-ham Central, Thursday; Highland Boy, Friday; Copperfield, Thursday; Thurs-day; Copperton, Friday; Lark, Thursday. From among first place winning essays a grand winner, to be announced an-nounced later, will be selected to receive an additional prize being awarded by Mrs. Knudsen. Winners are listed Bingham Central: sixth grade Virginia Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Len Smith, first; Wilma Dimas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dimas, second; fifth grade Maurine Morley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Morley, first; Mary Pappasideris, daughter of of Mr. and Mrs. George Pappasideris, Pappasi-deris, second; Copperton: sixth grade Lois Groves, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Groves, first; Carol Peterson, Peter-son, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peterson, second; fifth grade Dean Parkin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Parkin, first; Marjory Bennion, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. B. D. Bennion, second; sec-ond; Highland Boy: sixth grade Joan Massa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Massa, first; fifth grade Dorothy Chanak, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Chanak, second; Copperfield: fifth grade Clara Mae Phipps, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Phipps, first prize.
