libo 1800 WORKMEN QUIT AS PROTEST AGAINST USE OF LABOR NEGRO LABOR LEBANON Pa Aug A 29 A committee of the striking employees of or the American Iron and Steel Manufacturing 1 company called at the tire of or General General Gen Gen- eral Manager Lord today and demanded that tho the colored union non-union workmen from Reading and other men who wire had been beeD sent here be removed and the old hands be taken back This was refused A few moments later the tire men still at work ork some 1800 were ordered to come out The order was obeyed almost to a man Each carried a small American flag Only the tle foremen of the different departments and a few for blacksmiths remained at work The plant when hen in full operation employs nearly men and boys bos When hen the first strike occurred sixteen weeks ago about SOO men quit The others remained at work Now the tire entire plant is Idle with the exception of or the portion manned by the tire newcomers newcomer
