SIXTY COLORED COOKS COMING FROM THE SOUTH The Rev Rey Mr Washington Will ViII Go to Missouri and Bring Back a Party of Servants The Rev J. J W. W Washington of or the colored Baptist church will leave lea for Missouri Monday Monda o 0 o complete his plans for the relief relic of ot the vexing servant- servant Girl problem m and will return In about two weeks prepared to supply hou housekeepers housekeep housekeep- era ers here with reliable colored help for all nil classes of or hou household work The Rc Rev Washington conceived the Idea some months ago of ot bringing trained colored domestics to Salt Lake from the South The Idea was formed by the universal erfil complaints of or local housekeepers on account of ot the difficulty with which competent servants were yore procured His plan met with such encouragement encouragement that he Immediately began preparations for the Importation of oC the help from rem hl his hla old home In Missouri The Washington 1 system Is to get a list of or housekeepers who desire servants and to record the cla class g of servIce they hey desire the wa ages es they will pa pay and the accommodations that will be afforded the help After securing this data dala he opened correspondence with persons In the South d describing the opportunities 9 to tobe be he found here and setting forth the requirements for the positions at his dIsposal dis dIs- As a result sult of his correspondence there are arc about sixty families les here who have signified their desire to accept the servants of or his choice and an equal number of or servants In Missouri who are willing to take the trip and enter these homes Mr tr Washington 1 has already placed el eighteen colored servants from his I old home In good positions here and all are apparently satisfied The advantages ad seem to be mutual for fOl the employers and the employed e The I employers state that the servants whom they have procured through the aid of or Mr Washington are reliable and willing while the servants declare they receive recel better wages have ha more privileges and lighter work than was their lot In Misso Mis Mis- so u ri
