FO OUR DR MINERS KILLED 12 INJURED IN MACE FIRE SPOKANE Wash Feb 25 One One ot or the worst disasters In the history of the Coeur occurred last night at Mace Ida Twelve men are in the hospital and and t the bodies bodles of four others are believed to be in the ruins of the boardinghouse boardinghouse boarding- boarding ho house se of the Standard mine mine owned by Finch Campbell Campbel of Spokane The boarding and bunkhouses lodged about sixty men last night A little after midnight flames llames bur burst t o out t in the house boarding spreading quickly through the halls and shutting off otc all escape except through the windows Four men are missing It is believed they attempted to escape through ush the hallways and were ere burned to death Twelve men who jumped from the windows vs were injured some by flames others by falling failing on rocks It Is bell believed ved that two may maydie die These are D. D McCallum McCallum Mc- Mc Callum and John both badly burned The rest or LOf of the injured it is 1 believed will recover All were placed on handcars and taken to the hospital at Wallace The list of those less seriously Injured includes A. A Townsend F. F J. J McKenzie P. P Bowers R. R M. M Brand L. L Z Eberhart J J. J B. B Bond John McAuliffe W. W C. C McConnell and A. A H. H Adams The company was equipped with apparatus for fighting fire but the flames s spread leal so rapidly that both the house boarding-house and bunkhouse were destroyed The men in the latter building however had d time to escape
