values iz in friendships and relationships It may have brought out the weaknesses of the weak but b t it has strengthened the ideals ideals' and integrity of the strong trong Dear Deir Miss Blair lair Five years ago my m mIster sister Ister and Iliad I had a double wedding Although the depression had already set in thought it i would end in a few t I months and our husbands both had uJ u-uJ jobs with a a future III I 1 I 1 for both Her husI husband husband hus hus- I band kept getting ILI I promotions without II much difference terence in pay while my husband husband hus hus- band had to take two or three cu cuts i These pro promotions promotions promo promo- m 0 Hons for my sisters sister's husband have since made money I Ifor for lor them while my husband hasn't even Cven got sot his cuts back Now while we are sisters and but very little difference in our ages and always were very t to each other this difference in our prosperity is making mak mak- ing lug a great change in my sisters sister's attitude at at- attitude toward me She seldom comes to see me any more and when I go to see sec her she assumes a Ii very superior attitude She always begins a lecture about people getting getting setting get set S ting along on what they have and living within their means as if it sh she were afraid I was going to ask for lor help I have no intention ol or asking my lister sister or anyone anone e else e for help For although we have to be very thrifty we can car manage But I long for the close companionship ship that used to exist between m my sister and me rae Iam I IBm Iam am Bm afraid it is gone forever for forshe forshe forshe she entertains a crowd in vastl vastly su superior superior su- su u. u circumstances from ours and never includes us in her I dont don't really want to be entertained entertained enter enter- tamed this in-this crowd as we would never be able to keep up appearances appearances appear appear- ances even in clothes but I want the love and understanding of my sister ister that I once had Is there any anyway way wa I can let her know what is in my heart It is almost impossible to talk to her as s she always as puts herself herself her her- self leU on the defensive THE YOUNGER Money Mone Is such an uncertain thing but the qualities that make for fineness fine fine- ness of character go o right on enduring enduring enduring endur endur- ing forever If through the rebuffs you receive from your our sister you OU cango cargo can car go 10 on with your own loyalties anc and attempts to understand your our sisters sister's point of view you will be the winner in the end Your sister lives ves in a superficial atmosphere atmosphere at- at at that has caught her in its swirl She must keep up appearances in order that her husband shall meet the right people appear their equal and because nothing seems to succeed like success fOrge ahead And in this new life every minute of her time is taken up planning and scheming Pont Dont think for a minute but that she has problems as great as your own in trying to make ends meet mec with what she considers her raised standard of at living And in addition to this she has to keep up with the Joneses But you ou who have seen what s superficial super super- per tidal living can do to people will never let go of ot your ideals and integrity integrity integrity integ integ- rity when step by step you ou and your husband begin if ever to climb the ladder of or financial success You will have learned there are some things finer and more enduring than the climbing Say to our sister Our lives seem m to be going in altogether different channels I am sorry to lose your our love lo and faith and I want you OU to know if il y you u ever need me which may seem unlikely now I am always there waiting waiting wait wait- ing for your return Then leave her to seek you in her own time of spiritual if not material need MARRIAGE AND DEPRESSION Dear Miss Blair
