Dog Days Arrive as Salt Lake Canines Vie for High Honors at Pet Carnival i Junior Chamber of Commerce Sponsors Event for School Children Every dog has his da day and Wednesday Wed was Wa the day for Salt Lake canines There were poodles of ot all descriptIons descriptions descriptions' in the junior chamber of ot commerce commerce com corn merce dog dOJ show and parade for school children It wasn't one of those shows where they give blue ribbons and lovin loving cups to the dog with the blackest tongue or best pedigree pedigree ped ped- but just a regular pet carnival car in which a feller with a cross collie come and spaniel had as much chance as one with a thoroughbred chow The event under the direction of Lyle B. B NIcholes of the junior cham chain ber started with a parade through the business district followed by a ashow ashow show at Broadway and West Temple streets Take Part In Show Nearly dogs and their masters took part in the show ih which several several sev seve eral prizes were offered Ruth Woodward Woodward Wood Wood- ward 12 of ot 2635 Grain street won the prize for displaying the best decorated decorated dec dec- orated dog She had a pink fluffy French poodle Bc Frank 11 of af Freemont avenue and his po lice dog puppy Pa Patsy y won the prize for the typical American boy and dog Wayne Darby 10 Grant street walked off oft with the prize for the most moat original dog dog it it was a stuffed rag canine d dred teat Great Dane Wins Honor year old Harold Olsen needed only a saddle to turn the show into a rodeo He won the prize for having having haying hav hay ing the biggest dog a great Dane named Duke In contrast Ralph lph Rose 13 of South Second West street carried his dog Daisy a rat terrier in his coat pocket He Ha won the prize for the smallest pup Margaret Maack 6 of South Main Wain street received cd the prize for forthe forthe forthe the skinniest dog and Buddy Cutler Cut Cut- ler len 7 E B street won honors for forthe forthe forthe the fanciest dog His pet was a a pink- pink nosed Pekinese The junior chamber of commerce will stage a n winter sports ports carnival for children January 13 and 14 at the new Fort Douglas winter sports cen ter The event ent will vili include dog races ski tournaments and sled races 4 y friT 1 1 I r v A j 7 I 1 4 l 4 44 f t I 1 sI r. r V 5 1 M f f I j o k tJ I.
