S church is next to the the oldest mission president in point of ser service ce closing more than 25 years of continuous service as dent of the southern states mission to succeed the late Dr James A. A Talmage Born in Dublin Ireland May 4 1865 Mr Callis first came caine to Utah with his mother when 10 years old shortly after the death of his father He had been baptized a member o of the Mormon faith in Lt Liverpool England En gland when 8 years of age The Callis family made their home In Bountiful for three years and then moved to Coalville In Coalville Mr Callis Cams engaged In politics as well as his church ch work He was at one time county attorney of Summit county city councilman I of Coalville and served as a member of the second state slate legislature Active in since boyhood Mr Callis Calls served as stake Mutual Improvement Im Irn provement association superintendent I and filled a mission in England In L 1893 and a mission in the southern I states In 1906 After serving two years he was appointed president of the mission mis mis- sion slon a position he has held up until I now His ilLs wife Is Mrs Gra Grace e E.
