West has constructed many foot bridges an arid and constructed several miles of telephone telephone tele tele- phone line The camp workers have hav havea a also o cleared acres of cam camp campgrounds grounds and built more than 15 camp tables and installed the same sam number of camp stoves The remainder of the members o othe of the Woods Woods' Cross camp with the exception ex ex- of 20 working on the Salt Sal Lake watershed have built more mor than a score of small reservoirs inthe inthe in inthe the canyons of Davis county to prevent prevent pre pre- vent the d disastrous iI rous floods which have occurred in inthe the past They also lIso have constructed many miles of canyon roads and spent several thousand man hours battling fires Will Become Forest Areas Areu It is expected that most areas on which the C C C workers are now placing improvements in Davis county county coun coun- ty will be made part o of the Wasatch national forest Mr Betenson said It is planned to plant trees anc and various kinds of grasses on most o of this territory which has been denuded ed of vegetation during the past years year due to overgrazing Mr Betenson said Besides the Soapstone and Woods Cross camps there are arc 11 others located located lo lo- in various parts of Utah Eight of these are located on the national forest lorest and are doing recreational improvement im nit- provement and flood control work while white the other three are assisting the national parks service and the reclamation bureau Mr Betenson said The reclamation camps which were recently opened are located on Currant Currant Cur Cur- rant cr creek k where feeder canals ar are being constructed to feed into the Strawberry reservoir Nearly arc being employed constructing feeder canals on the Ephraim project The national parks service is doing some excellent work with members of the C C C camp located at Zion national nation l park |
