Show State St te School Board Announces First Apportionment of Equalization Fund The state board of education Tuesday Tues day announced the first firs apportionments apportion I ments from the sch school l equalization fund created by the 1931 legislature to help pa pay the costs of a minimum educational program outlined in the same measure providing for the fund The apportionments made for the year ending June 30 totaled The law provides that the equalization equalization tion fund shall shaU be distributed to the school districts of the state on a ba basis Is of school units the units being based on number of or schools and average at at- The cost of the minimum program is set by the law at 1655 a unit and the equalization fund is apportioned to bring the revenue of each district up to this amount for each unit after income is received from the district school fund the high school fund district school levies and the land interest and rental funds Under the law the state tate tax commission com com- commission mission Is empowered to provide forthe for forthe forthe the equalization fund by fixing a levy sufficient to raise funds lunds equal to 1 per capita of school population for forthe the school year 33 1932 and ranging up to 5 per the years after 1935 While the fund was designed to be 1 per capita for the current year ending June 30 actually it amounted to approximately 78 cents because of tax delinquencies The Salt Lake City school district receives the largest single amount of the apportionment Jordan receives Granite and Murray Ogden district receives Provo and Logan |
