Show l F PEOPLES PEOPLE'S CORNER Thinks Special Session j Would Be Waste of or Time Editor of The Telegram I II I notice that during the past few weeks there has been a great deal of agitation for a special session of of the legislature re to consider resubmission of the state prohibition law As a wet though not so ardent a one as I once was I think the question should be resubmitted to the citizens of Utah but I do not see sec what good a special session of ot the legislature would do I recall only too well that the Ic legislature legislature legis legis- ls- ls lature at its regular session this year turned down propoS proposals for a referendum referendum referendum dum on the dry law These same legislators legislators leg leg- would take part In the special special cial session and I do not know of any indication being given so far tar that they would change their votes When they refused to reconsider resubmission they hey were undoubtedly voting as their constituencies directed and I do not believe that our legislators have ball ball- caring bearing consciences which will turn with every shift of public opinion The Novem November r elections were re regarded re re- carded in most quarters as n a mandate J for Cor The legislators 4 who came camo into office then evidently did not regard them as sueD Ibe thing to do therefore it seems to me sue i L 18 to wait until the next general clec- clec te teon lion on and then vote for legislators who are re definitely announced either for or again against resubmission To convene a special session lon on th the 7 question nov flow appears appear to me to be only a waste wate r of time and money for thc thc- incumbent legislators are apparently not pledged to an anything thIng as l far r as 35 rc rc- rc dJ submission goe goes and give no promise of ot carrying out the demands made y by br 1 30 so large largo a number of organization lU jj L.
