Show ACCIDENT TAKES ' MINER'S LIFE Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Bingham Bing-ham LDS ward chapel for Rex Marsh, 27, who was killed at 6 a.m. last Friday when struck by a falling rock while at work at the upper Bingham mine of U. S. Smelting Refining and Mining company. Mr. Marsh, a pumpman, was near a cage station when a rock fell down a shaft and struck his head. He was secretary of the U. S. Mine Welfare association. Bishop David C. Lyon presided presid-ed at the services. Opening prayer pray-er was by Ernest Sheen. Talks were by Byron E. Grant, superintendent super-intendent of U. S. Mine and Bishop Bish-op Lyon. Musical selections included a chorus, "I Know That My Redeemer Re-deemer Lives", by the- Singing Mothers with the solo by Phoebe Siddoway; a request solo, "A-sleep "A-sleep In the Deep", by Bishop J. Clement Crapo of Sandy with Mrs. Lewis Parkin of. Copper-ton Copper-ton as accompanist; a vocal duet, "In The Garden", Mrs. J. T. Davis Da-vis and Miss Magdalyn Gust with Mrs. Meredith Smith accompanist accompan-ist The Singing Mothers then sang "Unanswered Yet". A son of Harry and Ada Tid-well Tid-well Marsh, he was born September Sep-tember 22, 1914, in Helper. His parents moved to Royal where he attended public school. He was a graduate of Carbon county coun-ty high school. He was employed by the Royal Coal company for a year. He married Gertrude Lloyd of American Am-erican Fork in 1935. The couple came to Bingham soon after and Mr. Marsh has since that time been employed by U. S. Mine. Surviving are his widow: a daughter, Peggy Anne, 2, both of Bingham; . a brother, Ross Marsh of Salt Lake City; four half brothers, William B. Hick- man of Crescent; V. H. Hickman of Sandy; Roy and Harold Marsh of Stockton; a half sister, Mrs. W. J. Nevenner of Spring Canyon Can-yon and , a ;.grandmpthr.Mrs. Annie' Tidwell of Wellington. Pallbearers were Lyle Cox, Joseph Moore, Grant Hodges, Lavell Swenson, Cyral J. Robison, Robi-son, LeVere Jones. Burial was in American Fork cemetery. Short services were conducted at the graveside. Bishop Bish-op Lyon dedicated the grave. |
