Show r. r I Good Sense Will Rule J HERE does not appear to be any logical reason for the entire t jj THERE 1 country to become unduly excited over the prevailing high hight i cost of living labor troubles and other unsettling conditions t With the United States government at work rounding up the the piratical profiteers who while white comparatively few in number I are are fe pernicious in their operations and the government assisted in its efforts by state and municipal authorities it is that these practices ultimately will wilt be stopped and without the general t 1 t p public getting up in arms as it were V- V Vw i- i w ice w Various solutions for the high cost of living problem have been been en suggested but analyses show them all to be more or less lessI 11 vagary g ry or chimerical One of these suggestions is that the people I J Tg the United States refrain from purchasing anything not absolutely essential wear their present clothing and shoes into rags and uppers and subsist on the most me meager meager ger of diets In the meantime it is argued manufacturers would pile up immense quantities of goods for which there would be no market with the result that prices would tumble Evidently the fact is overlooked that when the public stopped r f guying buying tl the e manufacturers would cease manufacturing with the J. J result that hundreds of thousands of workers would be thrown out out of employment while at the same time retail establishments unable to sell their goods also would be compelled to close their stores throwing still stilt more hundreds of thousands of put out o of work I Such a condition would be worse many fold than the existing high prices l because cause then very few would have money with which to purchase even the necessities of life It t is confidently believed that good American sense sense combined th Ith conservatism of thought and action eventually will solve t the 1 e e. e various problems with which we are confronted and without sans signs signs' of disorder or hysteria |
