W Eldredge Architect Present home of Mission theatre will be known as Colonial building Contracts were let Thursday for the completion of the Mission theatre building building build build- ing on Third South between Main and State streets at a cost o of Work will be begun at once When finished the building will be one of the most attractive attractive attractive tive In the business district and will house one of the most modern hotels In Inthe Inthe Inthe the city The building will be called the the Con nial and the hotel the Colonial hotel The building was recently purchased by the Colonial Realty and Trust company company com corn pany for a good sum and preparations preparations' were begun at once for Its completion Financial reverses on the part of the original builder caused him to sell his interest The structure is six stories high and at present Is not completed above the first floor There are rough floors and only the constructional timbers Umbers In evidence evidence evi evi- dence and a rough cement front George GeorgeW W Eldredge architect has been busy with the plans and has completed the i drawings for one of the most modern hotels in the city The front of the building will be especially attractive Around the spaces between the windows and arid above the doors on the lower floor will be facings facing's of pure marble with orna- orna I of granite at the corners and overlooking the entrance 1 Above a granite compound will wIn be used for the facing bringing out a perfect I granite finish At the top will wIn bo a five- five i foot cornice of copper with pretty carvIngs carvings i ings and surmounted with an attractive design of granite V The sides of the building will wIn be finIshed finIshed finished fin fin- In bay state compound which is a a. a good deal the same as concrete 1 On the inside the woodwork will be bo of birch with maple floors There will be bo I rooms in the building with fifty baths and running water in every room An electric elevator and other modern conveniences conveniences conveniences con con- characteristic of an up to date hotel will be installed The company owning the building has not decided yet upon the lower floor of of the building At present the Mission theatre occupies the space Whether or not this will be continued or the place converted Into a hotel lobby has not been definitely decIded The building thus thus' far has cost and with an additional It Is said it can be finished and made ready for forthe forthe forthe the hotel fixtures The work on the building is to go right ahead and it probably will be all ready for forthe the opening opening- ea early in the spring |
