A Guest JUST A SUGGESTION I am no shrewd economist its it's not for me to say sayTo sayTo sayTo To statesmen how the they ought to meet the problems lems of ot the day I haven't any fancy scheme for curing public ills ilL Im I'm Just an ordinary chap who likes to pay his bills But this is how it seems to me the way to run a town Before you put th the taxes up is cut expenses down The citizens who pay the thc bills have had their Incomes In comes cut The owner of the little home has suffered l losses s but The politicians' politicians clerks arc all aU enjoying times good pay In two long years rears of oC sacrifice they haven't lost a a. aday da day And so if 11 I were running things Id I'd risk my little crown By thinning out the public crew to cut expenses down I Couldn't wouldn't think up further schemes to hit good citizens Id I'd do what farmers always do with old non non-la non laying hens Id I'd chop some heads ot off here and there Id I'd sort the sheep from goats grots And give more thought to ways and means and less to getting votes Id I'd cut the bills bUls of oC government not caring who may frown And ere I shot the taxes up Id I'd shoot expenses down |
