O C. C Ormsby was superintendent of ot the Cache stake L L. L D. D S S. S Sunday schools and ultimately succeeded Mr Ormsby In that p position Later business drew his attention to the northwest and it was not long before he was recognized as a a. factor In building up eastern Oregon and western Idaho In 1889 Mr Nibley with other prominent business men mell organized the Oregon Lumber company company com pany of Baker City Ore and served as secretary for a num number r of years In 1890 he became one of the organizers organizers or of the Sumpter Sampler Valley Railroad Railroad Rail RaU road company and for a number of years occupied a position of leadership leader ship In business circles In c eastern tern Oregon Mr Nibley was vice president of the Sumpter Valley railroad and later became be be- came p president of Valley railroad He was one of the founders and chief officials of tho thoLa La Grande Sugar company which afterwards merged into the Amalgamated Sugar I company CHOSEN FIRST COUNSELOR He took an active part In the colonization col wl of Grande Ronde valley Oregon and Payette Idaho With the organization of ol the Union stake of Zion In 1901 1001 he was chosen first counselor to President Frank Brain Brain- well and continued in that position until he was succeed ed Wil liam B. B Preston as presiding bishop of the church December 11 11 1907 He was set apart as second counselor In the first presidency May 28 1925 at atthe atthe atthe the age of 76 In 1906 Mr Nibley and part of his family accompanied President Joseph Jo seph F. F Smith on a a. visit to Europe He and some members of his his ils family accompanied President Smith to the Haw Hawaiian Islands in 1909 and in 1910 to Europe again They also toured Canada Mr Nibley was appointed a mem memo bers of the war industries board in July 1918 Mr Nibley married Miss Ellen EBen Ricks In Salt Lake 51 years ago last I March and 46 years ago last October married Miss Julie Budge In Logan gan At the time of his death he was actively engaged in man many business cs enterprises He was president of the Standard Investors Inc recently organized organized or and comprising all aU the Nib- Nib Icy holdings and a director In the following companies and banks The Z C.
