L Jasper Newton Perkins Succumbs Succumbs Suc- Suc at Age of 85 Years Jasper Newton Perkins 85 Black BlackHawk BlackHawk BlackHawk Hawk Indian war veteran and Utah pioneer died at his home in the Oxford Oxford Ox Ox- Iford ford apartments West North Temple street Monday morning of complications incident to his age Mr Perkins was born in in Grundy Missouri Nov 22 22 1945 19 and came to Utah in 1849 with his parents who died the following year leaving five children orphans Mr Perkins Perkins' grandfather came west the following year ear and reared the children n. n Th lure of gold took Mr Perkins to California at the age of 12 where he drove an ox team in the Sierra Nevada mountains At the age of oC i 13 he traveled from Sacramento nto Cal pal to Reno Nev on foot and engaged Inthe in inthe inthe the freighting business between Reno and Carson City BLACK HAWK WK VETERAN VETERA Mr Perkins returned to Utah when h was 17 years ears old and enlisted in th John Bigler company which took look part in the Black Hawk war In southern southern south south- ern cnn Utah i He married Luc Lucy Garrett of Bountiful when he was 22 years ears Continued on PAra Par Fourteen INDIAN DIES IN S.
